Pre-Oscar Parties

It was a busy week for Oscar stars: not only did they get pampered at incredible Oscar Suites all over LA, but they also attended the hottest parties before the big evening!

To kick off the week, Premiere and Elle presented The Fashion Show, which featured celebrity models in designer dappers, like Stuart Weitzman shoes, gowns by Cesar de le Parra, and other designers featured at the Pacific Design Center’s Red Carpet Suites. Celebrities who strutted their stuff down the runway included Marilu Henner, Willie Garson (Sex and the City), Rachel Shelley (The L Word) and Catherine Bell (Jag). Tom Green, Kathy Griffith, Cheryl Hines, Marsha Thompson, Lake Bell and Rhona Mitra were also spotted in the audience. Cheryl Hines sang “Got to be Real” from Oscar-nominated A Shark’s Tale and Tommy Matola’s new artist, Ryan Leslie, gave a stirring performance. After the show, everyone enjoyed the hot after-party (and fab gift bags!) at the Premiere and Elle lounge, where celebrities and models mixed it up.

Stuart Weitzman was a busy man the week before the Oscars, not only featuring his shoes at The Fashion Show, but also hosting his own Oscar Dinner at the Christies Auction House in Beverly Hills. On this exciting evening, the celebrity shoe designer announced that he obtained a pair of Swarovski crystal earrings that belonged to screen legend, Marilyn Monroe, and unveiled the one of a kind pair of shoes he created using the Monroe jewels. These shoes made walking history, mixing Hollywood past with the Hollywood present, and were worn by Oscar nominee, Regina King, on the red carpet. The extravagantly designed, shoe shaped floral arrangements by Muguet served as gorgeous centerpieces and brought the room to life. The elegance of the night had Jane Weitzman’s personal touch, from the great food to the jaw-dropping gift bags. Each star who wore Weitzman shoes to the Oscars will be autographing them and giving them to Celebrity Rags 4 Charity Riches so they may be auctioned off on Ebay in March. Weitzman’s annual dinner was a sought-after invite among celebrities, stylists, and media during Oscar Week and proved to be an incredible evening.

On Friday, Director McG and writer-producer Stephanie Savage (best known for their work on The O.C. and Charlie’s Angels) co-hosted the Trident White “Black and White Party” to support The Film Foundation, the non-profit organization led by Martin Scorsese. Famed DJ Tony O (of the Ellen Degeneres Show) spun for the star-studded celebration. Omar Epps, Rachel Hunter, and Lance Bass, among others, showed up for the amazing event at Mondrian’s Skybar.

While Friday night was big for Hollywood, Sunday was even bigger. On the night of the Oscar awards ceremony, there were star-studded events all over town!

The Beverly Hills Hotel was the location for the arrival of hundreds of Academy stars who attended the hottest celebrity Oscar Viewing party in town: The 15th Annual Night of 100 Stars Oscar Black Tie Dinner Gala. Famous host Norby Walters chaired the event, where countless stars gathered to eat dinner and watch the awards ceremony. Some very famous people in attendance were David Carradine, Amy Yasbeck, Lorenzo Lamas, John Sally, James Wood, Martin Landau, Won-G, Shawn Young and Tracy Bingham, the Van Patten family, Jay Burnstein, Gary Busey, and Cheryl Ladd, among many others.

At another viewing party, hosted by Daphna Ziman, Pierce and Keely Brosnan, Stephen Dorff, Tracey and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, and others, was the Children Uniting Nations’ 6th Annual Fundraiser. Wyclef Jean and Chaka Kahn headlined the event, and funds raised from the concert, the viewing dinner and the after party benefited homeless and foster children. Paula Abdul presented the performers. Celebrity chefs traveled from across the country to prepare a spectacular dinner in support of raising these funds.

Vanity Fair and Veuve Clicquot put on a glamorous Oscar shindig that saw the likes of Adrien Brody, Tom Cruise, and Penelope Cruz. Tom, cool as ever, rode up to the back entrance on his Ducati motorcycle and was seen surrounded by attractive women throughout the night. However, he still had time to exchange hugs and kisses and pleasant conversation with his ex-girlfriend, Penelope.

Sir Elton John’s 13th Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party, held at the Pacific Design Center, was a fabulous party that raised funds for the Elton John Aids Foundation. This star-studded event presented by famed jeweler, Chopard, began with a cocktail reception, followed by the viewing dinner and an after-party. Of course, Sir Elton John presided over the affair with his longtime partner, David Furnish, on one arm, and his beloved pooch on the other. The after-party guests were treated to a special performance by the Scissor Sisters, which culminated in a duet with Sir Elton John himself. This party brought together the hottest celebrities from the film and music communities, including Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Sir Ben Kingsley, Salma Hayek, William H. Macy, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman, Jesse Metcalfe, Natalie Cole, Mary J. Blige, Donald Trump, Donatella Versace, Don Cheadle, Christina Aguilera, Sharon Osbourne, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Tori Spelling and mom Candy, Jane Seymour, Kelsey Grammar, Cameron Crowe, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Joan and Melissa Rivers. The list goes on and on!
