London Premieres

For one magical day, London’s Leicester Square was transformed into a fairy tale scene from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory to host the premiere of Tim Burton’s new film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The London landmark was garnished with giant lollipops and candy canes to celebrate the new film based on Roald Dahl’s book. The star of the film, Johnny Depp (Willy Wonka), greeted thousands of fans at the event and signed autographs.

Also in attendance were director Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Mrs. Bucket, and child star Freddie Highmore, the new Charlie, who finds Willy Wonka’s last golden ticket. As the famous story goes, five lucky children who find golden tickets concealed in Wonka’s chocolate bars get a chance to tour the whimsical candy-filled factory.

The premiere was a treat for both the screaming fans, along with cast and crew, for Leicester Square never looked more vivacious and dazzling.
