Kids abounded at the First Annual HBO All-Star Family Sports Jam held
recently at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Transformed into a sports playground on-site at the Barker Hangar were various celebrity scrimmages and competitions, featuring all different activities from baseball to skateboarding to figure skating. Sports stars such as Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox and celebs such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Billy Crystal and NYPD Blue's Esai Morales took part in a live auction to benefit Los Angeles's Children's Hospital. Meanwhile, guests could participate in interactive games, browse the silent auction, feast on delectable dishes from A-list restaurants, and enjoy star sightings. Other celebrities in attendance were Arliss's Robert Wuhl, Alias's Michael Vartan, ice skater Tara Lipinski and hair stylist to the stars Jose Eber. Bill Noce, the president of the hospital, and HBO honcho Chris Albrecht, mingled with the kids, parents, and celebrities for this very worthy cause. Proceeds from the event will go toward the building of a 280-bed hospital, designed to be one of the most sophisticated and trendsetting children's hospitals in the country.
