Grammys

In between the Golden Globes and the Oscars®, many of us turn to the Grammys to satisfy our appetite for entertainment and excitement. Join us as POWER takes you behind the scenes of some of the most lavish, extravagant events, all in celebration of one of music’s biggest nights:

Pre-Party Celebrations

MusicCares Person of the Year

James Taylor proved he had a lot of friends, celebrity friends that is, as Sheryl Crow, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, the Dixie Chicks, David Crosby, India.Arie, Bruce Springsteen, and others, paid tribute to The Recording Academy’s 2006 MusiCares Person of the Year Monday night at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Nicholas Gonzalez and Linda Thompson and Michael Woods also attended to support the "Shower Your People" singer for "his extraordinary musical achievements and his philanthropic commitment to arts, environmental and humanitarian causes."

Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party

Anyone who’s anyone, including Ashlee Simpson, Maroon 5, the Neptunes, Diana Ross, the Foo Fighters, Terrence Howard and power players Quincy Jones and Russell Simmons, were spotted at the coveted Clive Davis pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The celebrity extravaganza featured beauty treatments from L’Oreal and a medley of incredible performances from Academy Award winning actor-turned-singer, Jamie Foxx; piano princess, Alicia Keys; dancer/singer, Usher, and Grammy-nominated American Idol winners, Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia.

Grammy Style Studio
Besides grand parties and performances, pre-Grammy celebrations also included the ever-popular ritual of snagging swag. InStyle hosted a luscious fashion buffet at the legendary Ocean Way Recording Studio, where stars No Doubt, Omarion, India.Arie, Warren G, Amerie, the Black Eyed Peas, and the Pussycat Dolls hung out to sample the high-end goodies. Joining in on the feast were raspy singer Macy Gray, who appeared upbeat with a bag filled with Ted Baker of London treats and actor/singer Tyrese Gibson, who walked away with a fine Elini watch.

Brands Vivienne Westwood, L.A.M.B, sass & bide, Tommy Hilfiger, Jenny Packham London, Ben Sherman, Marchon Eyewear, Isabella’s Soul Hats, Pony, Felix Rey, Sol Raphael, Mia & Ko, Pout London, Redken 5th Avenue NYC, and Cutler Salon also participated.

Grammys: Fashion

The Grammys have always made its mark on fashion. (Think Jennifer Lopez’s jaw-dropping, emerald green shocker in 2000.) This year was no exception…

Desperate Housewives hottie Teri Hatcher literally turned heads in a sheer and lace wine-colored Jean Paul Gaultier number.

Alicia Keys hit the right fashion note with a black-beaded Armani Prive.

The Pink Panther star Beyoncé beamed in an intricately-beaded bronze strapless gown.

And, fashionista Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas captured our vote for Best Dressed with an elegant, creamy-colored chiffon strapless dress.

Grammy Ceremony

The ceremony itself, featuring amazing musical performances from Madonna and the Gorillaz, Mary J. Blige and U2 and Sly Stone, put the spotlight on outstanding recording talent of the year.

Wednesday proved to be a beautiful day for U2 as the veteran Irish band received five Grammys (Album of the Year, Best Rock Album for “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” Song of the Year, Best Rock Performance by a Group “Sometimes You Can’t Make it on Your Own” and Best Rock Song “City of Blinding Lights.”) at the Staples Center.

Soulful songstress, Mariah Carey (Best R&B Album for “The Emancipation of Mimi,” Best R&B song and Best R&B Vocal Performance for “We Belong Together”); confident and cool rapper/producer, Kanye West (Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Album for “Late Registration”); his musical protégé, John Legend (Best New Artist, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Ordinary People” and Best R&B Album for “Get Lifted”); and pop princess, Kelly Clarkson (Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Since U Been Gone”) were among the other honored artists.

After-Parties!

The Grammys ended on a high note with an array of post-celebrations.  Check out some of the evening’s see-and-be-seen party destinations:

Three-time Grammy winner, West, played host to G.O.O.D. Music’s “Heavenly”- themed social at West Hollywood’s The Lot, where Victoria’s Secret-esque models wearing white bikinis and angel wings welcomed Grammy winner, Legend and Grammy nominee, Common, as well as Beyoncé, her rap mogul beau, Jay-Z, Brandy, and Nelly.

Sony BMG’s shindig at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel was a favorite amongst Ashanti, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline and AI vets, Clarkson and Fantasia. But, Idol runner-up rocker, Bo Brice, opted for EMI’s extravagant gala at Paramount Studios, as did Jermaine Dupri and Joss Stone.

Celebrities Paris Hilton, DJ-AM and Rodney and Holly Robinson Peete preferred the William Morris Agency bash at the Avalon Club in Hollywood.

And, Record of the Year winner, Green Day, Kathy Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Alyssa Milano, mingled and lounged at Warner Music's terrace party at the Pacific Design Center.
